Making theatre accessible to all

Barking Gecko believes all children benefit from being exposed to exceptional theatre experiences. By working with partner organisations such as The Smith Family and Life Without Barriers, we aim to provide 10% of our public season tickets to children and families experiencing disadvantage.

AUSLAN

Barking Gecko was honoured to receive the ASLIA (WA) Auslan Interpreter Award 2008 for Organisation of the Year, highlighting the Company’s commitment to opening up the theatre experience to all young people.

The award came after Barking Gecko was successful in gaining support from the Disability and the Arts Inclusion Initiative (DAII), a joint program of the Department of Culture and the Arts and the Disability Service Commission.

Barking Gecko is committed in establishing Auslan interpreted performances for each production.
