
Afeif Ismail
An established poet and playwright Afeif has a number of published works in Arabic; and two poetry books in English Bet of Argil (2005) and Mum! This World Lies to Us!! (2009). Writing is Afeif’s mission in life he wants to use his skills and experience in Australia to help the new generation. Passionate about cross cultural development, Afeif believes there are many opportunities in Australia and reminds us “never forget your identity and be proud of what you have to offer this country.”
Career highlights include: being short listed for the 2007 Kit Denton fellowship for Writers of Courage, receiving the 2009 WATDI for The Shrouds or the Dead and working with Barking Gecko to turn his play The Son of the Sun into The African Magician.
Afeif’s most magical moments are: to find himself in Australia, be part of the artist community and when he is reading his poetry for people.
