EDUCATION AND TOURING COORDINATOR

ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT

Barking Gecko Theatre Company is Western Australia’s leading professional theatre company performing for young people and their families. Since 1991, Barking Gecko has earned an international reputation for excellence and innovation, entertaining audiences in Australia, Canada, Korea, Mexico, Singapore and USA.

Along with public performances, Barking Gecko offers up to 4-5 schools touring and theatre productions for schools in Perth and regional WA each year. A professional Education Resource and workshop supports each production.

The Education and Touring Coordinator is integral to the continuing success of Barking Gecko and is primarily responsible for:

•    Marketing and booking of the company's programs to the education and touring sectors in the metropolitan and regional areas of Western Australia
•    Coordinating tours of Barking Gecko productions
•    Coordinating Barking Gecko’s specialist workshop program
•    Increasing Barking Gecko audience and geographical reach

ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA
•    Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills.
•    Strong administration skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and identify priorities.
•    Confidence, initiative and problem solving skills.
•    Ability to work in a small team environment with minimal supervision
•    Excellent sales, marketing and public relations skills
•    Knowledge of education sector
•    Experience in marketing to the education sector
•    Experience in tour and/or project coordination
•    Experience in budgeting and scheduling

DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA
•    Interest in and appreciation of the theatre industry.
•    Interest in young people and theatre for young people
•    Understanding of computer systems and software, preferably with knowledge of Excel, Filemaker Pro
•    Event coordination experience
