Hidden Dragons

Hidden Dragons aims to explore Australian/Asian life from a child's perspective and features an incredible fusion of Chinese Australian sounds, traditional and contemporary.
In the performance of Hidden Dragons a young boy tries to come to terms with his family's Chinese culture through his fascination with dragons. He discovers different legends about dragons and relates their stories to the audience. He discovers the importance of his family's cultural roots as well as an understanding that his own history and culture is different from his parents.
First presented in 2004 for the Perth International Arts Festival, Hidden Dragons received “Best Production” at the 2004 Equity Guild Awards and actor Shirley Van Sanden also won Best Actor. In 2005, Hidden Dragons toured nationally including a sell-out season at the Sydney Opera House. In 2006, Hidden Dragons toured to the Vancouver Children’s Festival, the Darwin Festival, and regional venues across Victoria.
