Audition: The Stones

About the Production

The Stones is based on a true story of two boys charged with manslaughter after throwing rocks from a freeway overpass and killing a motorist.

 

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking two male-identifying performers aged between 18-35.

This is a physically demanding, fast-paced 50-minute work in which performers remain on stage for the entire duration, shifting between characters with precision and agility. One performer will portray Yahoo and Russo, while the other will take on Shy Boy and Quinn.  

Performers will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Strong mime skills and the ability to create expressive vocal sound effects.
  • Musicianship with the ability to play the guitar at an intermediate level.
  • A high level of physical stamina, focus and versatility.

Experience performing to and engaging with young adult audiences is highly valued.

PRODUCTION DATES (as at 16 May 2025 – subject to change)

Rehearsals: Monday 20 April – Friday 15 May 2026

Production Week: Monday 18 – Friday 22 May 2026  

Season: Monday 25 May – Friday 19 June 2026  

 

AUDITION DETAILS

Dates: Monday 9 & Tuesday 10 June 2025 & Friday 13 June 2025 (call backs).

Times: Between 9:00AM – 3:00 PM (each audition will take approximately 20 minutes).

Location: Multipurpose Room, Subiaco Arts Centre, 180 Hamersley Road, SUBIACO.

Audition Requirements:

  • Please prepare Yahoo and Russo OR Shy Boy and Quinn.
  • You are required to embody the characters and be off script, and demonstrate guitar-playing skills.
  • You will only be required to attend one audition date and call backs (as applicable).
  • In-person auditions only. Self-tapes will not be accepted.
  • Performers must be Perth-based.

Character Briefs:

  • Yahoo: 15-year-old boy. Yahoo likes to intimidate Shy Boy and boss him around, but they are still best mates. He is bigger than Shy Boy and doesn’t let him forget it.
  • Shy Boy: 13-year-old boy. Just that little bit more innocent than Yahoo. He looks up to him and is easily lead. He knows right from wrong even if he doesn’t always know when to act on it.
  • Russo: A detective. He is a bit disillusioned with humanity but hopes he can make a difference. Stubborn and jovial.
  • Quinn: A detective. He is smart and thorough and sometimes comes across as a bit cold. He believes the best in people and believes in the law. He isn’t just doing a job he is making a difference.
