Walk of the Whales by Nick Bland

A Barking Gecko Arts Production | 2026

Adapted for the stage by Gita Bezard | Directed by Adam Mitchell

About the Show

When all the whales in the ocean suddenly leave their watery home and begin walking on land, the people of Seaside are baffled. At first, it’s a novelty — but soon, shops close, streets flood, and anti-whale sentiment begins to grow. That is, until a smart and curious young girl decides to ask the whales what’s really going on… and what we can all do to help.

Who We’re Looking For

Role 1: We are seeking a female-identifying performer aged in their 20’s, who can play an adventurous, energetic and curious 10-year-old named Frida.

Role 2: We are seeking a male-identifying performer aged in their 30’s, to play Blue, a Blue Whale who narrates the play, together with several other characters. The performer requires strong comedic ability.  Puppetry experience is advantageous.

We strongly encourage performers from diverse backgrounds and abilities to apply. If you have any access needs, please let us know.
