Barking Gecko Arts Secures Multi-Year Funding to Expand Arts Access Across Western Australia

We're thrilled to announce that the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation has approved significant multi-year funding to support our INSPIRE and Access programs, ensuring thousands more children across outer metropolitan and regional Western Australia can experience world-class theatre and creative learning.

This significant investment from our esteemed long-term partner will directly benefit the children in regional areas and low socio-economic communities. It will remove the financial barriers that prevent many families from accessing the arts. Over the next three years, we'll expand our reach to new venues and schools, from Karratha to Esperance, bringing fully subsidised tickets, transportation, and curriculum-linked creative workshops to children who would otherwise miss out.

"We commend the great work Barking Gecko does to ensure that every child, regardless of location or financial background, has access and opportunity to engage with the arts," said Elizabeth Perron AM, Executive Chair of the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation.

“This ongoing collaboration with the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation is truly transformative for children across Western Australia," said Ryan Taaffe, CEO of Barking Gecko Arts. "Their generous support is enabling us to reach even more communities and ensure that every child, regardless of their location or family's circumstances, can experience the magic and wonder of live theatre."

This partnership reinforces our core belief that geography and economic circumstances should never determine a child's access to transformative arts experiences. With the support of the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation and our dedicated community, we're building a future where every Western Australian child can discover the joy, confidence, and creativity that comes from engaging with live theatre and storytelling.

This funding is a significant step towards achieving our mission of helping young people across WA 'Imagine Bigger'. It will enable us to foster the essential skills of creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and emotional intelligence that will serve them throughout their lives.
