Tuesday 27 January – Friday 30 January

Reach for the Stars

Ages 8-12

Get ready to blast off into a world of imagination where anything is possible. Inspired by Barking Gecko’s upcoming theatre production Stellarphant, based on the award-winning picture book by James Foley, this exciting four-day workshop invites young dreamers to explore the wonders of space, creativity and courage.

Through drama, storytelling and play, participants will imagine what it takes to follow a dream as big as the stars. They’ll build characters, create new worlds and work together to bring their intergalactic adventures to life on stage. Along the way, they’ll discover that bravery, friendship and determination are what make every hero truly stellar.

With a focus on fun and creativity, and led by Barking Gecko Teaching Artists, young creatives will learn performance and theatre-making skills, including improvisation, voice, movement, and devising, while building confidence and self-expression in a supportive and inclusive environment. Participants will then share their creative discoveries with an informal showing for family and friends on the final day.

Thanks to the generous support of the City of Kwinana and Bendigo Bank, this school holiday workshop program is offered at a subsidised rate.
