In a valley nestled between two hills, is a small village and a world of magic to explore. Follow one girl’s journey as she struggles to understand the difference between belief and knowledge. Along the way the girl meets many wild and wonderful characters, including the African Magician and his monkey, and learns a valuable lesson about acceptance and being true to one’s self. Featuring puppetry, song and dance, The African Magician, is an enchanting story to captivate young audiences.

Based on Afeif Ismail’s play Son of the Son, The African Magician is a story of magic and child’s play in another culture.  The collaboration between puppetry and design artist Sandy McKendrick and Sudanese musician Asim Gorashi creates the atmosphere of Sudan were we watch the mischievous games of the village children. Celebrating the uniqueness of different cultures this play is aimed at 5-12 yo and their families.
