Immerse Program

Created by Barking Gecko Theatre Artistic and Creative Learning Teams and funded through the Creative Learning Partnerships Program (Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries), IMMERSE combines the beauty of live performance, exquisite production design and immersive learning outcomes.

Developed to bring theatre into classrooms, each session commences with a live performance. Through participatory elements, students (and their teachers!) are then invited to step ‘inside the story’ and propel the narrative forward through drama activities which engage creativity and imagination. The IMMERSE Program experience continues between sessions through follow up in-class activities which are provided ready for delivery.

Co-designed with a panel of practicing classroom teachers, documentation outlining connections to the Drama and English Syllabus (Year 3 – 6) of the Western Australian Curriculum K-10 is provided to support access to, and delivery of specific strands as well as links to overarching General Capabilities.
