These fun-filled four day workshops are designed to fuel imaginations in a joyful, supportive environment during the holiday break.
Led by Barking Gecko Senior Teaching Artist, Michelle Hall, these workshops will encourage your child to develop drama and performance-based skills through games, exercises, and creative explorations all while making fantastic new friendships in a fun, creative and inspiring environment.

2024 SCHOOL HOLIDAY WORKSHOP PROGRAM

Dust off your magnifying glass and get your invisible ink pen ready. This experience is tailor made for budding young sleuths. Unleash your detective prowess as we sift through a world of intrigue, mystery and magic. Use your exceptional espionage and cryptic code cracking skills as we turn ordinary scenarios into extraordinary adventures of discovery. Write letters in secret code, learn to blend in with the background and collect top-secret material to help unravel hidden secrets in plain sight. Create your own agent or detective name and create wacky gadgets to help save the day – but remember, nothing is ever as it seems.
Inspired by themes of mystery, adventure and great spy tales for children, this workshop will explore storytelling and performance through improvisation, voice, movement, character and devising. With a focus on fun and creativity, young creatives will develop their own characters and learn performance and theatre making skills whilst building their confidence and self-expression. Participants will share their creative discoveries with an informal showing for family and friends on the final day.

Join us for a fun filled 4-day escapade, as we explore tales of friendship and adventure in an enchanting world where not only imaginations, but houses take flight!
Inspired by contemporary fairy tales and Barking Gecko Theatre’s stunning production of House by Luke Kerridge and Dan Giovannoni, this workshop will have participants taking flight across the world exploring the wonders, whimsy and wackiness of life in a magical, flying house.
With a focus on fun and creativity, young creatives will develop their own characters and learn performance and theatre making skills such as improvisation, voice, movement, and devising whilst simultaneously building their confidence and self-expression. Participants will share their creative discoveries with an informal showing for family and friends on the final day.
