Barking Gecko Welcomes New Board Member
Barking Gecko Theatre is thrilled to announce the appointment of Kamal Thurairajah to its Board of Directors. With an impressive background in both engineering and the arts, Kamal brings a unique perspective and invaluable expertise to the organisation.
Born into a world of creativity and performance, Kamal's journey into the arts began at a young age, touring the globe in various theatre productions. Despite pursuing a career in engineering upon his relocation to Australia, Kamal's passion for the arts has remained steadfast throughout his life.
"Art is simply a part of life for me," says Kamal. "It's an integral aspect of who I am, and I'm honoured to have the opportunity to contribute to Barking Gecko Theatre's mission."
Kamal's dedication to fostering cultural diversity within the arts community is evident through his involvement with organisations such as the Swan Festival of Lights, Saraswati Mahavidhyalaya, and ChitAmbara. Kamal has demonstrated strong leadership in promoting inclusivity and bridging the gap between different cultural expressions.
"We are delighted to welcome Kamal to our Board of Directors," remarks Tony Chong Chair of Barking Gecko Theatre. "His passion for the arts, coupled with his expertise will undoubtedly enrich our organisation and help us continue to break down barriers in pursuit of our mission.”
Kamal's belief in the symbiotic relationship between engineering and the arts underscores his innovative approach to problem-solving and creative expression. His diverse background and commitment to community engagement make him a valuable addition to Barking Gecko Theatre's Board.
"I am thrilled to join the Board of Barking Gecko Theatre and contribute to its mission of creating inspiring and inclusive theatre for young audiences," says Kamal. "I look forward to collaborating with the board, and staff to further the organisation's impact and reach."
