Barking Gecko Theatre welcomes new chair Tony Chong and 2 new board members

Barking Gecko Theatre is excited to welcome our newly appointed Chair, Tony Chong to the Barking Gecko family.

Tony is a corporate partner, Head of the Asia Desk Australia and Managing Partner of the Perth Office of international law firm Squire Patton Boggs. He is a corporate M&A and tax lawyer, with extensive finance, fundraising, project, and commercial experience. He is known for his network and commitment to his clients and being a solutions driven deal maker.

Tony has first-hand experience with commercial businesses, being on the boards and chairman of various private and ASX listed entities and of non-profit organisations. He is a recognised leader in the community and has been a mentor to various community leaders under the WA Office of Multicultural Affairs board diversification mentor program.

“We are excited that Tony Chong will be taking on the role of Chairperson for Barking Gecko Theatre. Tony has a long history of involvement with Boards of all sizes including ten years as a Board member of the Perth Institute for Contemporary Art, his last five being as Chair of that organisation” Andries Wiedemann said. “We look forward to the passion, knowledge, and dedication Tony will bring to the organisation”

Barking Gecko also welcomes new board members Trish Hill-Wall and Dr Christina Davies.

Trish Hill-Wall is a proud Noongar woman from the southwest country of Wardandi who has held the position of Acting Dean for Teaching and Learning at the Centre for Aboriginal Studies and developed the first Aboriginal Clinical Mental Health Practitioner Degree for Curtin.

Dr Christina Davies is a Senior Research Fellow at The University of Western Australia whose multi-award-winning research focuses on the areas of arts-health, health promotion and mental wellbeing.
